Okta Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)

Before You Begin

You'll need:

  • A computer
  • A mobile phone
  • Access to your USAHS account
  • The Google Authenticator app installed from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store

Set Up Google Authenticator

  1. Go to https://login.usa.edu and sign in to your USAHS account.
  2. Select Configure Factor.
  3. Choose your mobile device type and select Next.
  4. Leave the QR code displayed on your screen. (example of screen below)
  5. Open Google Authenticator on your phone.
  6. If prompted, tap Get Started.
  7. It is recommended that you use a personal Google Account.
  8. Tap Add a code (+) > Scan a QR code.
  9. Allow camera access if prompted, then scan the QR code on your computer.
  10. Return to your computer and select Next.
  11. Enter the current six-digit code from Google Authenticator.
  12. Select Verify.

Setup Complete

Google Authenticator is now registered as your MFA method. During future sign-ins, open Google Authenticator and enter the current six-digit code for your USAHS account.

Troubleshooting

Verification code rejected

  • Confirm you're using the code for your USAHS account.
  • Wait for a new code to generate and try again.
  • Verify your phone's Date & Time is set to Automatic.

Lost or replaced your phone

  • If you enabled synchronization, sign in to Google Authenticator using the same Google Account.
  • If you can't recover your codes, contact IT Support to have your MFA method reset.
