LIRN – Update Expired Links for LIRN Databases

Issue / Question

Users are unable to update expired LIRN database links on the library website.
The database link is broken or redirects to an error page.

Cause

Database links may expire or be updated by LIRN.
If the website link has not been updated to reflect the current URL listed in the LIRN Subscription Information file, users will encounter errors when accessing the database.


Resolution

Part 1: Retrieve the Most Up-to-Date LIRN Database Link

  1. Navigate to:
    https://prx-usa.lirn.net/login

  2. Click Help (top-right corner of the page).

  3. In the pop-up window, select the Subscription Information tab.

  4. Download the available CSV file.

  5. Open the downloaded file in Excel.

  6. Locate the database that requires updating.

  7. Copy the most up-to-date link listed in the spreadsheet.


Part 2: Update the Expired Link on the Website

  1. Click the LIRN tile on the App Dashboard
    OR
    Navigate to: https://library.usa.edu

  2. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Staff Login.

  3. Sign in with your staff credentials.

  4. Click Dashboard (top-left of the page).

  5. From the Dashboard tiles, select Sliders.

  6. Click Ebook Collections.

  7. Select the Edit tab.

  8. Scroll down to locate the database with the expired link.

  9. Replace the expired URL with the updated link copied from the Excel file.

  10. Click Save to apply the changes.


Verification

  1. Navigate to the public-facing library page.

  2. Click the updated database link.

  3. Confirm it redirects properly without errors.
